A swing check valve or non-return valve functions similarly to a butterfly valve and is primarily used to transport flow in a single direction. This type of check valve has a swinging disc at the center that allows or blocks media flow.

Swing Check Valve or non-return valves also can be supplied with Titling disc design, Dash pot arrangement and outside lever & weight design for use where control of the disc is desires. Swing check valves are self actuating type.

A swing check valve is often used in sewage systems and firefighting operations. It is also designed to handle different types of media flow, including gasses and liquids.
